Come watch Minnesotan artists brave the elements to create amazing works of art. Better yet, sign up to participate!
Each team (with up to three members) starts with a ready-made eight-foot cube of snow and has 2½ days to carve out a sculpture using only hand tools. The team awarded 1st Place receives $1,000, a trophy, and an opportunity to represent Minnesota at the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition. Join the fun by entering a team! There are no experience requirements, and new teams are always welcome. All you need are a couple of pals, a team captain who lives in Minnesota, some snow sculpting hand tools, and your spirit of fun, adventure, and creativity! |
Visitors
Stop by often during the competition to watch the sculptures take shape. Be sure to visit around noon on Sunday, January 28, to vote for your favorite sculpture! Finished sculptures are individually lit after dark and can be viewed (day or night) for the duration of Vulcan Snow Park. Come early in the first week! The sculptures will collapse in warm weather and are knocked down early if they become dangerously unstable. The Minnesota State Snow Sculpting Competition has been held annually in St. Paul since 1987, with only a few years skipped due to lack of snow. |
